9-12 Midnight:
Tyson Naylor Trio
Vancouver pianist and keyboardist Tyson Naylor has firmly established himself as one of Canada’s most compelling musical talents, equally impressive on piano, organ or accordion. Naylor’s playing as a sideman can be heard on many albums, spanning many genres. He is a member of Vancouver bands Dan Mangan, the Crackling, the Abramson Singers, Francois Houle’s Living Ditches, and his own Tyson Naylor Trio.
Naylor has made numerous appearances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, with artists such as Tony Wilson, Bruce Freedman, and The Crackling. He’s toured throughout Canada, Germany and Poland. He has played in Europe with Tobias Delius and Tristan Honsinger (of ICP Orchestra), Christian Kögel, Jan Roder (Schlippenbach Quartet) and Joe Williamson. In Canada he has also performed with Jesse Zubot, François Houle, JP Carter and Steve Dawson.
For his own trio project, Naylor cites an eclectic mix of influences, including Misha Mengelberg, Don Cherry, Wayne Horvitz, and west-African music. His approach to composition is minimalist and organic, leaving harmonic and rhythmic space, as well as ample room for improvisation. Constantly evolving, when the trio plays, what may be a sparse, pastoral ballad nurtured until the last note on one night could be unceremoniously picked apart the next. Not to be missed.

9-12 Midnight:
Miss Quincy Trio
Tipping her hat to earlier times and the rugged Northern beauty that has been the backdrop of her life, Miss Quincy draws inspiration from the pioneering women who came before, the blues ladies of the 1930's, dirty guitar licks, and sweet gospel harmonies. In 2011 Miss Quincy embarked on her second independently booked UK/European tour, toured across Canada with a brand new all-girl band, and opened for the likes of Fred Eaglesmith. Her latest album, Your Mama Don't Like Me (which was recorded in a little log cabin in Northern Canada) was awarded Folk/Traditional Recording of the Year at the BC Interior Music Awards (CAN) and has received accolades from BBC Radio (UK), Q Magazine (UK), and reached top 5 in the earshot! Folk/Roots/Blues charts in Exclaim! magazine (CAN). She is currently recording a new album produced by Canadian roots & blues legend Tim Williams and gearing up for a 2012 album release tour that will take the band all across Canada and Europe. Miss Quincy performs solo, as a duo, and most recently with a smokin' guitar/upright bass/drum playing trio made up of ladies from across the globe. Miss Quincy doesn't fit the classic girl singer/songwriter mold and this isn't your average all-girl band.
